I'm feeling the urge for a transformation. I've realized that I'm not totally content with who I am and the life I'm living - it's not quite where I want to be.

The kids and I are "raising" butterflies. In our lesson we learned that caterpillars totally disintegrate in the chrysalis and then reform into the butterfly. But the cool things - their wings are inside them the whole time and the don't forget their experiences as a caterpillar. Wow! Just, wow!

So, I feel like the past few years have been my caterpillar years. I fattened up and prepared for the next step. Now I'm going to go inside, build a shied around me to protect the process, and emerge as something a bit different. A bit more of who I want to be. But, I won't forget who I was and all of the experiences I've had so far. My wings are inside me, and now it's ready to let their beauty appear and for me to take flight.

When we train for peri & postmenopausal fitness, we often need to shift our focus. If you’re not training for an long endurance event, then the days off slogging it on the treadmill are not longer needed. Instead we aim for the Bs and the Hs - Breathless, Burn, Hot, Heavy. Short high intensity workouts (no more than 30 mins) are very beneficial for us midlife moms. This is from my workout today. I started after my warmup (mobility focused) but check out the heart rate. Well up there for me and this workout consisted of all strength rounds. And boy did I feel it. I ended with about 8 minutes of restorative exercise. Pure bliss. 🧘
I’m not saying that you have to give up the endurance work, but switching a few of those training sessions a week for these can be a game changer, especially if your struggling with weight gain, insomnia, and fatigue.
